Here at The Image Flow we are constantly on the look out for anything that helps us make better prints. We recently purchased an Epson 9900 printer and have been really impressed with the improved color and contrast provided by its new Ultra Chrome HDR inks, especially on matte papers like the Somerset Velvet or Hahnemuhle Photo Rag.
Stuart and I have been experimenting with Epson’s new line of fine art papers on the 9900, which have the most vivid colors and rich blacks I have ever seen in a matte inkjet print. The color saturation and contrast is very similar for both the Hot and Cold papers, making their surface the only difference between them. The Hot Press is a smooth surface like the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag and the Coldpress is a a textured surface like the Somerset Velvet. Each surface type has a Bright or Natural white version.
We hope to introduce these papers soon after the new year. Here is a bit more info from luminous-landscape.com about the papers.
