Cuba Workshops Gallery
The Image Flow has hosted three workshops to Cuba in 2015 and 2016. Led by Stuart Schwartz and Jock McDonald along with renowned Cuban photographers who offered the group a Cuban perspective on their work. Each workshop participant has returned with a stunning collection of images. The itinerary of each was kept fast and loose, leading to dynamic workshops and a wide array of shooting styles, from shooting a pickup band on a street corner at dawn, to working with strobes to shoot models and classic cars, to staging prima ballerinas from the Cuban National Ballet in a private apartment that looked like a fantastic movie set.
The group lunched at the restaurant in Cojimar where Ernest Hemingway wrote The Old Man and The Sea, danced at the famous Tropicana club, and spontaneously jumped into classic American convertibles to cruise up and down the Malecón after midnight, passing cigars from car to car.
The images included in this gallery were made by the workshop participants, as well all four of the instructors. The subjects of the images span the breadth of the workshops, and are sure to be as inspiring to the viewer, as the experience in Cuba was life-changing for this exceptional group of photographers.
