shane Oneill, Wet plate photography,

This one-day hands-on workshop will focus on wet plate collodion portrait photography. Students will work with a professional model chosen by instructor Shane O’Neill. They will learn how to shoot with a large-format 4×5 camera and how to create tintypes with 4×5 black aluminum plates. Each student will get several chances to shoot with the model and will make several of their own plates throughout the day, which they will take home with them at the end of the class.

In the second half of the day, if students prefer, they can bring in someone they wish to photograph, rather than shooting the provided model.

No darkroom or 4×5 experience is necessary. All photographic and safety equipment will be provided. Wear clothing that you do not mind being stained.
